The Swansea City Opera production of Georges Bizet's The Pearl Fishers is a visual and dramatic spectacle with vibrant costumes that is sure to enthrall audiences when it comes to Lichfield Garrick on 24th April at 7.30pm.
The company are delighted to announce that they have secured Arts Council England Funding to offer audiences a pre and post show talk with the director, musical director and cast members about the production. This is a rare opportunity for audience members to meet those behind the scenes and put their questions to them and it is hoped these talks will create greater appreciation and understanding of the opera.
The pre-performance introduction by the directors will provide the general story line of the production and flag particular highlights of the opera, and give interesting facts about the opera and composer.
The directors and cast will then come out on stage at the end of the performance for a post production discussion that will enable the opera to be reviewed, and questions will be invited from the audience.
Swansea City Opera consider these talks to be a very important part of their work, as it is through this direct contact with the audience that they learn how they can develop audiences in the future.
This production was so successful when touring in five years ago that many theatres have requested its revival. The story is an exquisite combination of emotional turmoil and pervasive sadness, containing a ceaselessly seductive score with one of the most famous and beautiful operatic duets ever written for tenor and baritone - ‘Au Fond du Temple Saint'. It is beautifully performed in English by some of the finest singers and orchestral players in the country.
The pre-show talk starts at 6.30pm and lasts approximately 30 minutes. To book your FREE ticket for the pre-show talk, call the Box Office on 01543 412121. The post-show talk needs no ticket, simply stay in your seat after the show.
