Studio in the Round
Playing from Tuesday 21 Feb 2012
Different Animal Theatre Group presents Dennis Potter's acclaimed play Blue Remembered Hills as the Garrick's first ever Studio production 'in-the-round.'
Blue Remembered Hills follows the activities of seven children over the course of a summer afternoon during the Second World War. Dennis Potter's masterstroke was to insist that all the children be played by adult actors, creating a play that has many moments of pure comedy, sharply contrasted by examples of shocking malice.
The play was first screened on the BBC in 1979, featuring Academy Award Winner Helen Mirren in the role of Angela. The broadcast was so successful that Potter adapted it for the stage and consequently created one of his most loved works.
