Simmering Through The Ages

Simmering Through The Ages We are delighted to announce the publication of Simmering Through The Ages, a collection of unique and mouth-watering recipes from the annals of history brought back to life by Culinary Historian Professor Roland Rotherham in association with the Lichfield Garrick. Written with humour and translated from many different historical sources, this book provides a veritable feast of fabulous food and fascinating facts from the Pharaohs' banquets of Ancient Egypt right through to the decadent splendour of the Victorian tea table. All your favourite recipies from our Historical Cookery demonstrations are included, alongside some previoulsy undiscovered recipies!

Professor Roland Rotherham

There is nobody in the world quite like Professor Roland Rotherham. His varied and exciting life has included serving as a Captain in the cavalry, being a member of the personal staff of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and following his love of cricket - as a scorer and umpire. But it is his great love of both cuisine and history that, together, has led to his penning of this unique and entertaining historical cookery book. A frequent broadcaster on radio and television, The Professor is currently ranked third in the world for his expertise on The Holy Grail and The Spear of Destiny. He was once described by BBC broadcaster Malcolm Boyden as "A national treasure and one of Britain's best kept secrets".

Master Chef Simon SmithMaster Chef Simon Smith has had a varied, worldwide culinary career. He did his training in Switzerland and then Paris. From there he moved on to London and worked as chef saucier at The Inn on the Park in Park Lane. Whilst there he worked on the wedding of the Shah of Persia. In addition Smith has helped create a Japanese buffet for 1,500 in London, a Jewish wedding in New York for 4000 and worked at The British Embassies in both Paris and Vienna. He is currently chef/patron of Thrales Restaurant in Lichfield , Staffordshire where he has been for the past twenty years. Simon has won many prizes for his craft including three gold medals at Salon Culinaire competitions throughout the UK, The Tudor France  Award for Contribution to the Hotel and Catering Industry and achieved Thrales's Michelin rating.
