Christmas spirits raised as the Lichfield Garrick supports families from across the Lichfield District

The Lichfield Garrick theatre enables families to see Aladdin through partnerships with local businesses

13 families from Lichfield and the surrounding districts, who use the services of The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice and the Virtual School, have received tickets to watch Aladdin at the Lichfield Garrick, thanks to the theatre’s generosity and the support of local businesses. The Lichfield Garrick’s Executive Director, Karen Foster, and Development Officer, Jonathan Craddock, approached a number of businesses’ who were incredibly keen to back the Lichfield Garrick’s philanthropical scheme to support families in their local community.

The theatre which operates as a charitable trust wanted to give these families the opportunity to see the pantomime and give some Christmas cheer to those who may not have been able to enjoy it otherwise. Karen Foster, Executive Director of the Lichfield Garrick said: “I am so grateful to the companies who were generous enough to make this happen. When I started talking to businesses about offering tickets to families who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to visit the theatre this Christmas, I was overjoyed to find that so many business leaders wanted to support the initiative and have been delighted that we have been able to welcome in families who would not normally have been able to access the show.”

The businesses who were generous to offer their support to the Lichfield Garrick and the families using the services from The Donna Louise Trust and Virtual Schools are: Central England Co-operative, JT Leavesley Group, OneNAV Computer Support, Colin Lee Opticians, Bluflame Design, Crisp Branding, Riviera Travel, AID Fuel Oils Ltd, City Jewellers Lichfield and Acorn Ford & Kia.

The families will be attending Aladdin throughout the festive period.  Mum, Emma Adams, whose family regularly visits The Donna Louise for respite care, said, “This is a lovely treat for us to be able to attend the pantomime together and we’re really looking forward to the show. I’d like to say a big thank you to the Lichfield Garrick for giving the tickets to us.”

Starring CBeebies Cat Sandion and the returning comedy duo; Sam Rabone and Ben Thornton, Aladdin is the second pantomime at the Lichfield Garrick to be co-produced with Evolution Pantomimes following on from last year’s critically acclaimed Sleeping Beauty. Full of magic, spectacular scenes and an all-singing, all-dancing cast of fantastic performers, Aladdin is the most fun-filled family pantomime ever seen at the theatre.

Tickets are selling incredibly fast with a high level of shows now at full capacity. The theatre has added in an extra week of performances in the first week of January to meet demand.
