The Lichfield Garrick theatre is proud to announce that Katrina Bryan, best known for playing Nina in the hit CBeebies series Nina and the Neuronswill be joining the cast of Dick Whittington this festive season. Katrina will play the role of Fairy Moonbeam in the fun-filled family pantomime.
Nina and the Neurons is an award winning children’s television show that has been on our screens since 2007 and is now shown all across the world. As Nina, Katrina has also appeared in Swashbuckle, Justin’s House; Justin and Friends and CBeebies Live, touring arenas around the UK and many of the much loved Cbeebies’ Christmas shows. "Nina's Science Lab" is also one of the main attractions at Cbeebies Land, Alton Towers.
On joining the cast of Dick Whittington, Katrina said: “I visited Lichfield when I was a child and remember having a lovely time there so I’m thrilled to be coming for Panto! It’s a beautiful city and I can’t wait to perform in the fun and fabulous Dick Whittington at the Lichfield Garrick!”
Whilst widely known for her role as scientist Nina, Katrina has also been seen on our television screens with roles in Taggart, Sea of Souls and Rab C Nesbitt. She is also an established stage actress having featured in productions including My Romantic History and Death of a Salesman as well as being a regular on the pantomime circuit.
Karen Foster, the Lichfield Garrick’s Executive Director added “Pantomime is an exciting experiment bringing together lots of different elements which whizzes and fizzes just like the best chemistry experiment ever! What better star to add to this mix than Katrina Bryan (aka Nina from Nina and the Neurons) – CBeebies’ best known scientist – to play a sparkling, whooshing, magical Fairy Moonbeam. Your local independent theatre brings the Festive season to life with a family panto for every generation.”
Joining Katrina will be Welsh actor Ieuan Rhys who will play Alderman Fitzwarren. Ieuan has appeared in Doctor Who, Stella and the BBC Cymru soap opera Pobol y Cwm. Like Katrina, Ieuan is a regular on the both the theatre and pantomime circuit, most recently appearing in Sleeping Beauty at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable. Starring alongside Katrina and Ieuan are the comical duo, Sam Rabone and Ben Thornton, who have wowed and delighted the Lichfield audiences over the past two years with their comical timing, flamboyant costumes and incredibly messy slosh scenes.
Dick Whittington is the third pantomime at the Lichfield Garrick to be co-produced with Evolution Pantomimes. The story follows Dick and his cat as he travels to London to make his fortune and runs into a host of characters along the way. In the traditional pantomime style there will be plenty of festive fun for the whole family.
