Lichfield Peace Lecture: Rev Lucy Winkett (7B)

Duration: 60

How do wars end? With a bang or a whimper?

In the final year of our Lichfield Peace lecture series, started in 2014 to commemorate the Great War centenary, Lucy Winkett explores themes of peace making, power brokering, surrender and settlement in contemporary society. In a world of bewildering complexity with a seemingly insatiable appetite for conflict, what does life look like when the battle is done? Lucy Winkett is Rector of St James’s Church Piccadilly in central London. One of the first generation of women to be ordained priest in the Church of England, she was the first woman appointed to St Paul’s Cathedral. As Canon Precentor, she oversaw national commemorations after the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. She is a frequent contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day and appears regularly on Radio 2 and 3.
