About Look Who's Here!: A Celebration of the Rich & Diverse Culture that is Lichfield

Sunday 13th April, 11am - 3.30pm, hosted at the Lichfield Garrick.

This is a free, unticketed event.

Lichfield's City of Sanctuary are inviting everyone living in Lichfield to this exciting event celebrating culture and diversity in Lichfield. Lichfield District's City of Sanctuary work hard to support refugees and displaced individuals, families and groups who have sadly had to leave their homes through no fault of their own and have now settled in Lichfield. This support ranges from employment advice to creating a community where everyone can come together.

Members of the public, local businesses and organisations are all invited to this event that will showcase the culture, skills and talents that displaced people and migrants bring to Lichfield and share with us all.

This is an opportunity to meet new people, learn and share and maybe even create new friendships and connections. You can expect stalls, activities and performances as well as food from Ukraine, Syria, Hong Kong and Afghanistan. So, go on, join us for a day of fun, food and see how you can help shape our community.

Members & supporters of Lichfield District City of Sanctuary (in partnership with Lichfield Garrick Theatre) present a day of displays, theatre, participative events, stalls with a variety of goods (and FOOD!) by the residents of Lichfield with backgrounds in other cultures.

Stalls include: jewellery, wood carving, clay modelling, ornaments, tailoring, books, paintings, language classes, henna art, and much more!

Performances from: Kala Chethana Kathakali - fabulous dance theatre from Kerala, the Lichfield Garrick Youth Theatre, and more TBA!

Displays include: Tai Chi, Capoeira, Full Circle self defence, Zumba, aerobics, dance, and more!

Music from: the Lichfield Ukraine Choir of Sanctuary, Mr Toney, and more TBA!

What is the event?

City of Sanctuary will be hosting this event at the theatre to help bring attention to the pool of displaced people in the district, and the skills and culture they bring with them.

We are inviting all those living in Lichfield who have been displaced from their homes, or who might in other ways face discrimination or exclusion owing to racism, poverty, abuse, sexuality, disability or violence to join us in celebrating their skills and experiences.

We also invite members of the public, representatives of businesses and other organisations, community works, local councillors, and others to a celebration and a showcase of the cultures and skills of minority groups in and around Lichfield.
