As part of their current project to record the complete Schubert Symphonies, the CBSO return to Lichfield to play both Symphony No. 5 and his unfinished Symphony No. 8, under the guidance of Edward Gardner, their former Principal Guest Conductor. Alongside the Schubert, the full splendour of the orchestra will be heard in Strauss’s sumptuous tone poem Death and Transfiguration (Tod und Verklärung).
