Creative Burntwood

Now in its second year, Creative Burntwood is a project led by the Lichfield Garrick Theatre in partnership with Burntwood Town Council and Lichfield District Council. The project works to increase arts opportunities in Burntwood: a town rich in cultural heritage and community spirit.

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England's Place Partnership Fund, we've been able to set up a Community Choir who have already had opportunities to collaborate with industry professionals at the Garrick; we've offered young people aged 11-18 who live or attend school in Burntwood FREE opportunities through our oversubscribed youth theatre offering; and we've also increased Early Years opportunities in our collaboration with SPARK.

That's only half of the story! We've brought 13 professional performances to a range of venues across Burntwood, including Burntwood Memorial Institute, the Ashmole Bowls & Social Club, Chase Terrace Community Centre, and St Anne's Church. 

It has been fantastic to see such a positive response from the community and to see people of all ages engaging with the arts, discovering new interests and enjoying creative experiences together. As we look ahead to Year 2, we’re excited to build on this success and continue creating opportunities for people across Burntwood to access the magic of the arts.
