Our Story
There’s never been a more exciting time to be part of Lichfield Garrick as we celebrate our most successful year on record, welcoming over 138,000 audience members annually to a busy programme of drama, dance, music, comedy, family shows, and cinema.
With ambitious plans for the future, we are taking bold steps to enhance the theatre experience including a recent refurbishment of our entrance, box office, café, bars, and foyers, as well as a significant expansion of the theatre’s community engagement.
Our main auditorium seats around 550 people and includes a removable orchestra pit and counterweight flying system with forty bars. Complementing this, our studio space can be arranged in a number of seating configurations and accommodates up to 150. In addition to hosting an exciting range of touring productions, we also produce our own in-house shows, providing our technical team with unique opportunities for hands-on creative involvement where possible.
Your Impact
We are currently looking for committed and enthusiastic Casual Technicians to join our growing technical team, which includes Head of Production, Technical Manager, 3x Senior Technicians, 2x Technician, plus a pool of casual and freelance technicians.
Collectively, the team are responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the theatre’s performance spaces and associated spaces/activities, with a particular focus on maintaining a safe working environment, achieving the highest possible artistic/technical standards for visiting and in-house productions, and maintaining stage and electrical equipment in good working order.

Role Specific Responsibilities
- To work under the supervision of the Technical Manager and the full time Lichfield Garrick Technical team to ensure the effective operation of technical areas for visiting shows, in-house productions, and events.
- Contributing to the provision of a warm welcome and effective technical services for visiting professional artists/companies and other user groups.
- Contributing to the provision of a safe working environment and safe working practices for staff, visiting companies, freelancers, visitors, and the public.
- When required to, and under the supervision of the Technical Manager and Lichfield Garrick Technical Team working on get-ins and get-outs, including assembling, rigging, and checking technical equipment, and carrying out Stage, LX, Operator, Flys or other duties as required to facilitate the smooth running of performances.
- Working to expected standards of presentation and behaviour.
- Supporting EDI principles within all technical activities/services.
Additional Responsibilities
VISITING SHOWS
1. Working with the Technical team to ensure the delivery of an excellent technical service.
2. Under supervision and direction using technical equipment to deliver an excellent technical service.
3. Working with the Lichfield Garrick technical team and visiting companies to ensure the smooth delivery of their requirements.
IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION
1. Contributing technical expertise and assistance to in-house productions where required.
2. Working with the Head of Production, Technical manager, or creative teams to deliver the technical requirements of in-house productions.
HOUSE KEEPING & MAINTENANCE
1. Contribute to ensuring that all backstage areas and team office are kept clean.
2. Contribute to ensuring that all backstage areas and team office are well organised and kept tidy.
HEALTH & SAFETY
1. Working with the Technical Manager to ensure the theatre’s technical areas and activities meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated regulations.
2. Following safe systems of work in respect of all technical areas and activities.
3. Following technical COSHH assessments.
4. Ensuring the correct PPE is worn when required.
5. Ensuring accidents/incidents/near misses are reported appropriately.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES.
GENERAL
1. Attending staff meetings/training as required.
2. Attending staff training as required.
3. Adhering to all Lichfield Garrick Theatre policies & procedures.
4. Following all Lichfield Garrick Theatre Health and Safety Policy requirements
