A show produced in the heart of Lichfield is now getting its legs at the Edinburgh Fringe, with a special visit from West End Royalty & Disney star, Rachel Zegler.
Launched at the Garrick and heralded as "the kind of show you could see again and again" (WhatsOnStage), Disenchanted! the Off-Broadway Musical written by Dennis Giacino and Fiely Matias, and produced by The Production Garden, is now making its mark at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Directed by Garrick's CEO Daniel Buckroyd, Disenchanted! conjures up a blend of your favourite popularised fairytale princesses (Belle, Mulan, Sleepy Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Badroulbadour, and Pocahontas), adds a sprinkle of cheekiness, musical fun, and female angst - and serves up a concoction sweet enough to rival a Saturday afternoon bottomless brunch with your favourite girls.
Disenchanted! The Hit Musical is playing at the Pentland Theatre at Pleasance at EICC until 30 August 2026 and is already becoming a firm fan favourite. And on one of its very first Edinburgh shows, none other Rachel Zegler showed up to show her support for the cast of the UK's first professional iteration of the show.
"Disenchanted! is amazing by the way" posted Zegler to her 2.5M followers across Instagram.
Zegler is an American actress and singer, best known for her Golden Globe Winning portrayal of Maria in West Side Story (2021), and, most recently, her Laurence Olivier Award Winning performance in Evita. In the same year, she also played the titular role in Disney's 2025 adaptation of Snow White. What's better than one Snow White? Yes, two!
The whole team at the Garrick are incredibly proud to see something made right here in Lichfield go onto have new life far and wide across the UK & we're incredibly proud to see, what we hope will be, a long and prosperous future for the show... "Every time we think about putting a show on, with the exception of a panto… we're always thinking about the future… we don't want to waste all of the effort and the investment that's gone in" says Daniel Buckroyd (CEO). And this is why giving our in-house shows a new life is so important for the Garrick.
