What’s your connection to / interest in the Garrick?
As someone who has lived in Lichfield all my life, the Garrick has always been a place of cultural interest and where I first took to the stage in local theatre groups. Now, as someone working in the arts, I see the Garrick as a vital space for culture that can bring communities and artists together.
What’s your professional experience?
I’m a Freelance Producer helping small arts organisations and individuals deliver big ideas. I primarily work with inclusive community arts organisations, as well as independent artists and creatives, helping them with fundraising, project delivery and evaluation.
I started my freelance career as an Assistant to Movement Director Cydney Uffindell-Phillips before working on mass movement project ‘Critical Mass’, for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. I now tend to be ‘behind the scenes’ and my current work spans local projects in Lichfield to partnerships across the UK and Europe, working with organisations including National Youth Ballet, People Dancing and Anjali Dance Company. I also co-direct That! Dance CIC in Burton-upon-Trent and produce my own projects across Staffordshire.
What are you most excited about for the Garrick?
I am most excited about the direction the Garrick is heading with community engagement, as well as its commitment to the wider local cultural scene.
