Making A Difference

Making A Difference

“Since becoming a member of the youth board there have been some significant benefits in my life. I was recently asked to an interview and one of the main points of conversation there was my involvement with the youth board. My employer (I got the job!) was impressed by the youth board and I believe it has been a great way to gain insight into business and the workings of the theatre. This insight has also made going to the theatre a more rewarding experience. Another benefit is that I have seen a different, very interesting side to the theatre which has made me more conscientious.”

“Helping out in the café has built my confidence. I’m more comfortable speaking to people. I used to be call ‘quiet boy’ at school but now I speak to all the public. I have a job interview coming up which I wouldn’t have gone for if I hadn’t gained confidence on my placement at the Garrick. It’s been ace - I give it one billion out of 100!”

“Thanks to my placement in the café I’ve gained more confidence and talk to everyone. I now travel to and from the building on my own, and my social skills are better. I have learnt how to multi-task and now make the tea at home! I help as a pot-washer in my local pub and I now have the confidence to ask for training on the bar and till.”
