Step into the spotlight with Young Garrick Lichfield

Join our weekly youth theatre programme for 7-18 year olds. At the Lichfield Garrick we champion every young person’s unique brand of creativity. Our experienced industry professionals will guide you through a variety of exciting sessions, covering topics including comedy, improvisation and full-scale shows; the options are endless! Throughout the year, you'll also have opportunities to showcase your talents and celebrate all your hard work with family and friends!

Our youth theatre is split into three age groups: Young Garrick Junior (7-11 years), Young Garrick Intermediate (11-14 years), Young Garrick Senior (14-18 years). Each group is tailored to support you to expand your knowledge of theatre, explore your creativity and grow in confidence.

In some circumstances, we are able to offer subsidised or funded places in our Young Garrick groups. Please contact us atcommunity@lichfieldgarrick.com if this is of interest.

What to expect in a term:

Performance: Step into the spotlight and show off your hard work, with a performance on the final day of term where your friends and family can come along and cheer you on. Performances could be in our Garrick Studio, or site-specific at a venue outside of the theatre or on our main stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the sessions take place?
What do I need to bring with me?

Yourselves! Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you are safely able to move around in, and we recommend bringing a water bottle and a snack. You are welcome to wear jewellery, but we may ask you to remove anything that poses a risk.

How much commitment will you need from me? Do I need to come to every session?

Sessions are weekly and continue through school holidays, but we appreciate that you might have unexpected commitments that can't be helped, so all we ask is that you let us know as early as you can.

Please note that if you miss a session we're unable to give any partial refunds.

What will I learn from the sessions?

During your time with us, we'll work with you to develop your skills, challenge yourself and embrace your creativity. Sessions could cover anything from comedy and improvisation to full-scale shows.

What do I do if I can't afford to come?

In some circumstances we're able to offer subsidised or funded places in our Young Garrick groups. If you're interested in this, please contact us at community@lichfieldgarrick.com

Is there anything for over 18s?

If you're looking to get involved with us, we'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to join the Garrick Team as a staff member then you can check out our job opportunities here.

If you're looking for support with a creative project, or you have an exciting partnership proposal then we encourage you to reach out and contact us. For more information on who to contact or becoming a Garrick Partner visit this page.

Are there taster sessions available, or do I need to pay the full fee upfront?

We ask that all our Young Garrick participants pay for each term upfront, however this year we're introducing different payment options to make our youth theatre as accessible as possible.

For your first two weeks/sessions we offer a "cooling off period" in case you change your mind. During this time, you are eligible for reimbursement of any future sessions, no questions asked.

Who do I contact if I have other questions?

Please email the team at community@lichfieldgarrick.com

Why are you subsidising the Senior group only?

Our Young Garrick Senior group is supported by generous funding which allows us to offer a reduced price for this particular group.

The funding has been applied to the Senior group to remove complex financial barriers, such as self-funding memberships or needing to arrange travel, which may prevent 14-18 year olds from getting involved.

However if your child is in school years 3-9, then in some circumstances we're able to offer subsidised or funded places in our Young Garrick groups. If you're interested in this, please contact us at community@lichfieldgarrick.com

Do I get priority booking for the additional terms if I've already paid for and attended Term 1?

Absolutely, but we do recommend booking onto these terms as early as possible.

When are the performances?

Performances are on the final Sunday of every term.
