A glittering showcase for the UK’s finest young professional jazz musicians, combining a hardswinging rhythm section and hugely talented soloists, to bring you the very best in British bigband jazz. NYJO are thrilled to be joined at Lichfield Festival by esteemed trumpeter and soloist Yazz Ahmed for the premiere of her new composition, to bring you a programme that celebrates women in jazz: from the songs of Ella Fitzgerald and the 1940s trombone stylings of Melba Liston and composer and pianist Mary-Lou Williams, to contemporary classics by band leader Maria Schneider and the award-winning Laura Mvula.
